Is there a judgment against you? We can help protect your income so that you can continue to pay your monthly bills.
California Wage Garnishment Laws:
In California, your wages may be garnished after a creditor obtains a judgment against you in the court of law. The creditor is allowed to garnish up to 25% of your net income or 40 multiplied by the current state minimum wage ($9.00). The creditor has to choose which amount is less. Therefore, you are guaranteed to receive $360.00 per week. If you currently make less than $360.00 per week, then your wages cannot be legally garnished as a result of judgment. Please note that there are different garnishment rules for taxes, child support, and student loans.
If you file bankruptcy, there will be no garnishment at all. Call us at 510-556-1160 or click below to schedule your free consultation with our experienced attorney.
